A Guide to Making Better Worksheets

Canva.com is an incredible resource for educators! If you’ve never heard of it until now, though, have no fear. I’m here to give you a list of my top 5 reasons and tips for using Canva in 2018! If you try it out, I’d love to see your creations!

1YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A GRAPHIC DESIGNER TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL THINGS.

You don’t even need to be tech savvy, to be honest. I’m a teacher before anything else, so I just want to make something my students will enjoy using and learning with. Canva makes it easy and fun to create visually pleasing materials with little to no effort required. If you do ever get stuck and want to learn something, Canva offers free tutorials on their website, as well.

2CLOUD STORAGE ALLOWS YOU TO ACCESS YOUR MATERIALS FROM DIFFERENT COMPUTERS.

No more need for DropBox! You can access your files from any computer with your Canva account. You can even choose different file download settings, like pdf, jpg, or a png with transparency.

3FREE ACCESS TO A VARIETY OF FONTS, ILLUSTRATIONS, AND PHOTOS.

Stop hunting down 1990’s era clipart, my friends. Canva has a huge library of free clipart available. You can still find art online and upload it to your document, but for a lot of us using work computers, this is more challenging than it sounds. The integrated artwork features have saved me so much time and they look very stylish and modern compared to some of the things I’ve found on Google!

4NO PROGRAM DOWNLOAD NEEDED

This website is made to be used in your preferred internet browser, so there’s no need to download any additional programs. It can easily be used on any computer at any time! All that’s needed is an internet connection. I’ve used it at my work computer many times with no problem.

5BOOST OF CONFIDENCE

Perhaps this is just me, but I feel incredibly empowered and confident bringing polished and well-designed materials into a classroom. Students enjoy it more and that makes it well worth it. It feels great to know what you’re capable of! I hope this article could help inspire your lesson planning!
