Do you like wine, but hate lugging bottles home from the store in your bike basket? Well, I’ve discovered a great way to try various wines from different countries with just the click of a mouse.

Through the website www.enoteca.co.jp/en/, you can order wines from around the world and have them delivered to you in Japan. The best part? Buy enough bottles, and shipping’s free.

Using this site, you can order wine from a specific region, or just a variety that you like. There’s also the option of ordering a Party Pack for a surprise mix of New World wines. You get a mix of red, white and sparkling from countries like Chile, Argentina and Australia. Each box contains 12 bottles. The Party Pack costs under ¥10,000. Do the math. It’s a bargain!

The website has an English version for very easy purchasing. Just set up an account with a password, fill in the address section and make your purchase. For those who don’t like using credit cards, you can pay COD, and you can even choose the date and time of delivery. It doesn’t get any easier than that!

When you receive your box, a list of the wine is included in Japanese and English, as well as a brief description about each bottle and some recommendations for food pairing. Shipments also come with a newsletter (in Japanese only) highlighting the wines available from particular regions and offering interesting articles like “Why screw cap?”

Now when you decide to have a wine party, you can wow your guests with a nice mix of Old World and New World wine. Not only will you have a wide variety to offer guests, but no one will know how little you paid to have an impressive wine selection.

Kampai!
